Additional Information – The Oregon Ganymedes Base Ball Club was formed in 2005 as an educational outreach program for the Chana School Museum in Oregon, Illinois to teach local baseball history. Home games are played on the lawn of the historic Chana School Museum which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The club’s gray and red uniforms were designed from a local newspaper description of the Oregon club in 1871.
The club’s name Ganymede comes from Ganymede Spring, a local mineral water spring named by the famous journalist Margaret Fuller when she visited Oregon in 1843. According to Greek mythology, Ganymede was the cup bearer to the gods on Mt. Olympus.
Oregon, Illinois is a small town (population 3,600) located on the scenic Rock River 100 miles west of Chicago. Since their formation, the Oregon Ganymedes Base Ball Club has played over 250 vintage base ball matches against over fifty different vintage clubs from all over the Midwest and beyond.

Additional Information – The Logan Club of Lambertville, New Jersey, was organized in July 1865 and played its first base ball matches against the Belvidere (NJ) Club in September and October of that year. On August 31, 1866 the Logan hosted the celebrated Athletic Club of Philadelphia, and drew a large crowd “gratified to be able to witness the splendid playing of a club unequalled by any in the country,” despite a 106-10 loss. In September, the Logan Club defeated the Neshanic Club 77-35 in a match at Flemington, NJ.
The Logan counted among its club officers several notable townspeople including Col Ashbel W Angel (7th Regiment NJ National Guard and Lambertville postmaster), Augustus Barber (President Lambertville National Bank), William Cooley (Treasurer Lambertville Gas-Light Company), James Robinson (Lambertville school principal), and Dr. Jeremiah Hayhurst (President NJ State Dental Society). Dr. Hayhurst’s brother, Elias Hicks Hayhurst, was a star Philadelphia town ball player and later outfielder for the Athletic Club.
Home matches were played at the far end of North Union Street, on the grounds of the Delaware Cricket Club, which hosted base ball games up through the 1890s.
