Founded in 2021, we are the youngest ball club of Delaware County, NY -- with the claim to the oldest piece of base ball history. In 1825, there was printed a challenge by the residents of the newly formed town of Hamden, NY, in the July 13 issue of The Delaware County Gazette, printed in the then-and-now county seat of Delhi, NY. We have called both towns home during our brief existence so far, and we strive to bring the historic game to other towns of delaware county as often as we can.
We joined a rich heritage of base ball (and baseball) in The Catskills, where the sport has been played in various forms for over 200 year. Modern-day historic base ball arrived in the early 2000s with The (now-defunct) Roxbury 9, who played against the Fleischmanns M.A.C. and Bovina Dairymen as early as 2007 and 2008, respectively. Those teams, in turn, helped us get started, and along with the subsequent foundings of The Saugerties Brickmakers and Kingston Guards in neighboring Ulster County, we are proud to continue to declare, The Spirit of Base Ball runs deep in Delaware County, across The Catskills, and Throughout The Land!
